Objectives
- Identify and define the main word elements: word roots, prefixes, suffixes, combining vowels and combining forms
- Analyze the component parts of medical terms and be able to give their meaning
- Understand how to form plurals of medical terms
- Identify the levels of structural organization of the body
- Identify the location of the body cavities and be able to name the structures in each cavity
- Understand the terms relating to position and direction
- State the meanings of the word elements related to main body Systems
- Build words using the word elements associated with main body Systems
- Describe common pathological conditions associated with main body Systems
- Describe common laboratory tests, diagnostic and surgical procedures associated with main body Systems
- Apply what they have learned by interpreting medical terminology in practice
