IMC Obtains CBAHI’s Re Accreditation

The International Medical Center (IMC) obtained the renewal of the accreditation of the Saudi Central Board for Accreditation of Healthcare Institutions (CBAHI) on the October 6, 2020, for the second time. IMC successfully obtained this accreditation initially in November 2017 for a period of three years until November 2020.
The IMC was keen on obtaining the certification of the Saudi Central Board for Accreditation of Healthcare Institutions (CBAHI) for its standards that match and even exceed International aspects.
The main goal behind this accreditation is to establish quality standards for healthcare and patient safety under which all healthcare facilities are evaluated to prove their adherence to those criterions, through a rigorous, transparent, and comprehensive evaluation process.
According to CBAHI, the healthcare facility undergoes an examination of its systems, processes, and performance by peer reviewers and surveyors to ensure that all is conducted in a manner that meets applicable predetermined and published national standards.
Prior to its external evaluation, the healthcare facility is expected to conduct a comprehensive self-assessment to decide on the level of its preparedness and how far or close it is from achieving full compliance with the standards. The most important benefits of this accreditation include providing a framework for the organizational structure and management; improving patient safety and minimizing the risk of near misses, adverse outcomes, and medical errors; as well as enhancing community confidence in the quality and safety of care provided.
It also helps improve the competitiveness of a healthcare entity, in addition to helping facilities comply with the regulations of the Ministry of Health, being the legislative health authority.
Registration with CBAHI in its national accreditation program is required for all healthcare facilities operating in Saudi Arabia.
In addition to all this, accreditation increases the confidence of patients, insurers, and other (third) parties. It also ensures a robust tool for continuous quality improvement efforts in healthcare supported by great learning and educational opportunities.
