Introduction:

Autoimmune neurology is a rapidly developing specialty driven by an increasing recognition of autoimmunity as the cause for a broad set of neurologic disorders and ongoing discovery of new neural autoantibodies associated with recognizable clinical syndromes. There is diversity of clinical presentations, unique pathophysiology, and the complexity of available treatments.

Learning Objectives:

In this Course we are aiming to review most of the Autoimmune diseases of both the central and peripheral nervous system. By the end of the 2 days the attendees would be able to:

  • Recognize the clinical presentation of different autoimmune diseases of both the central and peripheral nervous systems.
  • Have a clear idea of the different antibodies associated with different diseases (Differentiate antibodies associated with different diseases).
  • Approach to the treatment of different autoimmune diseases that affect the neural axis.
  • Review the pathophysiology of immune diseases.
  • Recognize how autoimmune disease can affect the visual system.
  • Identify findings in brain and spine imaging with different autoimmune disease

Topics to be discussed:

In this Course we are aiming to review most of the Autoimmune diseases of both the central and peripheral nervous system. By the end of the 2 days the attendees would be able to:

  • Neuroimmunology of CNS demyelinating disorders
  • Detection methods for neural autoantibodies
  • Checkpoint inhibitors and neuroinflammation
  • The small foot: Questioning the stones of neurodegeneration Diagnostic Criteria for MS
