A dedicated Family Physician is how we would positively describe Dr. Khalid Bakr Alem the Section Head of the Department of Family Medicine.
Dr. Khalid completed his Bachelor degree in Medicine and Surgery in 1991, from King Abdulaziz University in Jeddah, K.S.A. He started his residency at King Abdulaziz Hospital, Jeddah in 1991 where he joined the Department of Surgery. From 1992 to 1993, he served as the Emergency Medical Coordinator until 1993 in King Abdulaziz University, Jeddah.
Having the willpower to obtain a Post-Graduate degree, he joined the Department of Family Medicine’s Program from 1993 until 1997. In 1998, he was given the post of Senior Registrar in Family Medicine.
He obtained his Jordanian Fellowship in Family Medicine in 1996 and 1997. He was then accepted as a Member of the Arab Board of Family Medicine.
He continued his practice in Family Medicine as a Consultant Family Physician at King Abdulaziz Medical City from June 1998 until 2005. Having demonstrated skills in both administrative as well as clinical practice, he was then appointed as the Head of Medical Education in Primary Health Care, Western Region at the National Guard Hospital.
Besides being selected as "Tutor of the Year" for Family Medicine for 2003 and 2004, he is also a recognized trainer in both Arab and the Saudi Board of Family Medicine.
Dr. Khalid, a Saudi and a native of Riyadh, is married and has three lovely daughters.
Dr. Khaled enjoys playing football and reading during his spare time.
