Dr. Mouaz Al-Sbei

Dr. Mouaz AL-Sbei is a Neurology Consultant  who came from the United States to join the International Medical Center (IMC) in March, 2006. 

He is American Board Certified in Neurology, Electromyography (EMG), and Electroencephalography (EEG). His clinical interests are nerve and muscle disorders, Multiple Sclerosis, strokes, and Parkinson’s Disease. Dr. Mouaz views Multiple Sclerosis as “One of the most interesting enigmas in the field of Neurology. Without a clearly defined cause or cure, the treatment of these patients must clearly be individualized”.  He also treats and manages Epilepsy and memory disorders.

After completing medical school in Damascus, he went on to the USA to pursue his higher education.  He chose to specialize in Neurology because he finds it fascinating and intellectually stimulating.  He also feels, it is a booming field. After lengthy research on the neurological complications of diabetes at the University of Michigan, Dr. Mouaz completed his Neurology training at the University of Utah in the United States.   He was selected to receive the privilege of the graduating neurologist with excellence.  He then completed a Fellowship in Neuromuscular Disorders and Clinical Neurophysiology at the University of Utah.

From 2003 to 2006, Dr. Mouaz worked as the Chief of the Neurology Department at Central Utah Multi-Specialty Clinics.  He was also appointed as the Medical Director of the Stroke Center at a tertiary hospital in Utah.  For over two years, he provided vital leadership that led to establishing an outstanding Primary Stroke Center that had been awarded an official accreditation (JCAHO) in February, 2006 which was shortly before Dr. Mouaz joined IMC.

Dr. Mouaz is originally from Damascus, Syria. He is married with three children. Their names are  Oase, Belal, and Leen. In his free time, Dr. Mouaz enjoys swimming and playing football.
